Riassunto

IL CONTESTO: tra i servizi sanitari territoriali che possono rappresentare una risorsa per fronteggiare l’emergenza COVID-19 ci sono i Consultori familiari (CF). Uno studio nazionale coordinato dall’Istituto superiore di sanità (ISS) e finanziato dal Ministero della salute, ne ha recentemente descritto le attività e i bisogni, evidenziando un’ampia variabilità interregionale nella disponibilità di sedi e di personale. Fra le attività dei CF rivestono importanza strategica l’assistenza al percorso nascita, i programmi di screening del tumore della cervice uterina e le azioni rivolte agli adolescenti.

I CF DI FRONTE AL COVID-19: nonostante la necessità di limitare l’offerta ai servizi indifferibili durante il lockdown, tante realtà sono state esemplari nella capacità di riorganizzare prontamente le attività nel nuovo contesto. L’articolo presenta una selezione di esperienze relative alle attività strategiche dei CF realizzate da marzo a giugno 2020 in 8 aziende sanitarie di diverse Regioni italiane.
CONCLUSIONI: la lettura combinata di alcuni dei risultati dello studio dell’ISS e delle esperienze realizzate al tempo del COVID-19 offre una misura della capacità dei CF di rispondere ai bisogni del territorio e di adattarsi al cambiamento. Si tratta di servizi improntati a un modello di salute innovativo, che meritano di essere valorizzati e sostenuti.

Abstract

THE CONTEXT: among the community health services representing a resource to face the COVID-19 emergency, there are the Family Care Centres (FCCs). A national study coordinated by the Italian National Institute of Health (ISS) and funded by the Italian Ministry of Health, recently described their activities and needs, highlighting a large interregional variability in the number of centres and staff availability. Ante and post-natal care, cervical cancer screening and actions addressed at teenagers are the FCCs strategic activities.
THE CF IN FRONT OF COVID-19: despite the need to limit the offer of care to the services that cannot be postponed during the lockdown, many FCCs have been exemplary in promptly reorganizing activities in the new context. The paper presents a selection of experiences carried out from March to June 2020 by some FCCs in different Italian Regions concerning FCCs strategic activities.
CONCLUSIONS: the combined reading of some of the results of the ISS study and of the activities implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic offers a measure of the ability of the FCCs to respond to the needs of the community and to adapt to change. These services based on an innovative health model deserve enhancement and support.
